Project Meetings
The GeoSchools project was structured around four international meetings held in Iceland, Poland, Romania, and Turkey throughout 2024 and early 2025. Each meeting brought together students, teachers, and educational partners to work toward the shared goal of improving climate change education through geoscience. The meetings were designed with clear and complementary purposes:
Together, these meetings formed the backbone of the project, combining education, creativity, and international cooperation in a meaningful and lasting way.
- To train teachers in outdoor and place-based learning methods connected to climate and sustainability
- To engage students in creative, cross-border collaboration through workshops, fieldwork, and game development
- To connect schools with local landscapes and UNESCO Global Geoparks, making learning more relevant and real
- To co-create practical tools, including a multilingual lesson plan booklet, a student-designed board game, and a shared GeoSchool Policy
- To present and share results with local communities, educators, and wider networks for long-term use and impact
Together, these meetings formed the backbone of the project, combining education, creativity, and international cooperation in a meaningful and lasting way.
